Often times I feel tired and weary of battling my flesh over the same things everyday. I was thinking about this and wondering why I easily get weary of well doing, when God reminded me that I often forget to put on the full armor of God. I find that most days I just put on half of my armor, and think I am ready for the day ahead of me.
It is obvious to us that if a soldier went into battle with only half of his armor, he would not be able to fight a very good fight, nor would he conquer very much for the cause he was fighting for. So why do we only put half of our armor on when we are fighting for the greatest cause this world will ever know?
Do we not put on all our armor because we don't have enough conviction? Why do we not see the importance of these battles? Is it because we are to self focused on our own agendas?
I believe we wouldn't get weary and tired of these battles so easily if we were consistently, and properly prepared for each day. . .
These are real battles that have been set before us every minute of everyday. Battles that are being won and lost. If we don't learn to efficiently fight these battles now, how are we going to face the days to come? We must carefully put on every piece, everyday, so that we can conquer as much as possible in this world for our Lord.
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sward of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:10-17
I pray God will strengthen us to put on the full armor of God each and every day!

Well said, Elisa! I know that there are armaments galore for the spiritual warrior, but so often I go into "battle" each day unprepared, unequipped, and even surprised when challenges come. Thanks for sharing your heart!

Elisa, these very same thoughts have been on my mind this last week. I have been trying to be more mindful of equipping myself with the Word of God for the attacks of the devil. These words of Charles Spurgeon I read two nights ago convicted and encouraged me:
"If you will tell me when God permits a Christian to lay aside his armor, I will tell you when Satan has left off temptation. Like the old knights in wartime, we must sleep with helmet and breastplate buckled on, for the arch-deceiver will seize our first unguarded moment to make us his prey. May the Lord keep us watchful in all seasons and grant us a final escape from the jaw of the lion and the paw of the bear."
Thanks for the encouragement!
Megan
